2014 Nature and Wildlife Day at the Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary by Reg Coffey

Ingleside – On Sunday, October 5th, the Friends of the Bird Sanctuary held their annual Nature and Wildlife Day fundraiser. This is the main fundraiser event for the Bird Sanctuary and highlighted project this year was the “Get On Board” boardwalk rejuvenation which was launched at the Friends AGM in April of this year.

There were demonstrations from the Canadian Carp Club, birdhouse building for kids, horse rides, wild duck banding and, on the main stage, birds of prey and native animals were featured.

In addition to the educational opportunities there were over 30 vendors present offering local products from wood working to food products for sale. There was also a silent auction with products donated from all of the vendors that was well subscribed to by the hundreds of visitors.

MPP Jim McDonell was on hand to present a certificate to the Friends’ Board President, Chuck Clavell and Director Pauline Gagnon, for all the good work that the Friends have achieved.
