Manotick Farmer’s Market by Reg Coffey

Manotik Farmer's Market 2

Manotick – Friday evening I received an email inviting me to check out a relatively new Farmer’s Market in Manotick. It is a little bit out of my usual range geographically but as a favour to a fellow vendor from the Ingleside RO Craft Show each year, I spent a pleasant Saturday morning driving to Manotick. The young market is located in the historic area of Watson’s Mill and Dickinson House. It was established as a project to help promote Watson’s Mill but it has gained the favour of the local population and tourists alike.

Watson’s Mill is a heritage site and still mills grain which it sells and also bakes into bread for sale.

Other vendors at the market were Two Broke Boys (fudge, grilled cheese, breakfast sandwiches), Chridomar Gardens (pickles, relishes and jams), Sam’s Sprouts  (micro-gardening), Foster Family Farm, Patti’s Pantry (baked goods), Hall’s Apple Market (apple products) and Mossey’s Smoke Shop. Bekings Eggs was not there on this visit but they are a regular vendor as well.

There even was entertainment at the market. There were three charming young fiddlers playing their hearts out and step dancing to the delight of all the onlookers.

Right next door to the market sits Dickinson House Museum. There were plenty of guides to help the visitor with the story about the Museum.

The Manotick Farmer’s Market is open on Saturdays from 9 AM to 2 PM. It is located at 5525 Dickinson St, Manotiock across the road from Watson’s Mill.

They are still looking for more vendors so if you are interested in participating in the market you can email Jack Williams at:
