We’re Going On a Bear Hunt at the St. Andrew’s Library by Reg Coffey

Bear Hunt Book 11Jun14

St. Andrews – There was a special event at the St. Andrew’s Library today. Tammy McPhail and Jasmine Theriault of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit were there to read “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt”, written by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury, to a group of kindergarten and pre-kindergarten students from St. Andrews Catholic School.

Tammy explained that the EOHU participates in book readings to help get children interested in books and to improve literacy in the long term.

The video shows how interested the children were in the reading and the interactive nature of the reading kept their attention throughout the entire session.

The children really enjoyed the reading but not nearly as much as the adults enjoyed watching them. The readings may be focused on children’s literacy but just watching them can be used as fun therapy for stressed out grown ups.
